“BioShock: The Collection” is the highly anticipated remastered versions of the three titles in the classic franchise, complete with all the downloadable content. For consoles, the version was released on September 13, but PC owners have to wait until the 15th, much to their disappointment. With 2K releasing the new trailer for the bundle, though, it’s clear that the wait is worth it.
The upgraded titles can now run on 1080p and at 60fps, with vast improvements in meshes and textures for the first two games in the series, in particular, PlayStation Lifestyle reports. The new trailer shows these improvements off in the most nostalgic of ways, combining the breathtakingly beautiful graphics with scenes that force fans to relive those awe-inspiring moments when they played through Rapture and Columbia for the first time.
As fans might already know, the PC version of the third installment won’t be getting a remaster because the game already runs quite well on high-end rigs. The graphical upgrades with this title will only be for consoles to make use of the power of the newer generations.
As for the trailer itself, it starts with a collection of memorable moments and speeches from all three games, PC Gamer reports. These include the founder of Rapture Andrew Ryan’s monologue to the conversations involving Booker DeWitt and the Lutece siblings. From there, it quickly gears up to show off the improved framerates and effects as the characters of all three games take turns in punching, shooting, and blasting their way through a horde of enemies.
It finally ends with Elizabeth from “BioShock: Infinite” saying “There’s always a man, there’s always a city, there’s always a lighthouse,” which fans would know is taken from her conversation with Booker near the end of the game. The collection will take up a considerable amount of hard drive space and will also need to meet spec requirements for the PC version, which 2K already released for perusal.
